Google reviews and Instagram views for testimonials? Are they real?. Do you read them? The other day I noticed an Instagram post that featured a really nice screenshot of Google reviews on someone’s post and it got me thinking… Great idea! I mean why not? As a working full-time musician here in Toronto I use Instagram almost exclusively for promoting myself as a professional entertainer. Many others do as well. Photos and video on FaceBook, Twitter, etc also go a long way for advertising and promotion as we all now know.
Google reviews, however, have always been a bit of a sticky point with some people. Do you believe most of them? Are they real? How can we prove that that person writing the review is actually who they say they are. On my own testimonial page, it was decided to post photos of the person or persons that actually wrote the review. In fact, it went even further so some of the pics were of me and the writer at the actual event. Now I suppose one could get some friends with google plus accounts to sprinkle some nice reviews on your account for you. There are also many organizations now that purchase likes, views, subscribers, etc. Some say it’s a fair and fine way to get noticed. To put you in a position where people go “hey look at this…they have so many followers they must be great!” This though might not do you any favors with the honesty crowd though.
Google reviews seem to be gaining more credibility these days and I’ve even found myself reading more of them as well. Looking for a new pizza place? Need your carpets cleaned? Looking for a talented violinist? (wink wink) check the reviews.
So having just received some of my initial Google reviews I thought let us share some right here! Along with some recent Instagram posts that folks seemed to enjoy. At the end of the day, it is important to know the significance of what previous clients have said about you. If Google endorsements, Instagram & Facebook likes and comments help you decide if you make that call or not… then as mentioned at the beginning of this post…Great idea!
