VIDEO: Elenas Floating Harp Really Doesn’t Float Does It?
Mm-Good question. It might dance a little. Move across a dance floor in an interesting way. It seems to glide all over the place and most of the time I’m trying to catch up with it!
I think by now those that know me know I very much enjoy the pomp and circumstance of entertainment. Maybe it’s the dress up part of things like gowns, jewelry, and the shoes. Maybe though it’s also things like the floating harp.
I love the whole lights, camera, action and lets put it this way…I’m a bit of a ham. Have been since I was a young girl performing for the adults with singing, dancing and believe it or not even a bit of magic. Ah magic. From the pull the rabbit out of hats guys to the big Las Vegas super magicians making elephants and planes disappear. So it was with that in mind when I first thought how I could make the harp move across floors with the smooth easy elegance of Fred Astaire.
Of course it’s really no big secret or trick but quite a few people are still very curious. A few years ago a young bride asked if I could follow her down the aisle with me playing the electric violin “of course!” I replied. She then with a bit of a sigh remarked it was too band I couldn’t walk with her on that same trip with a harp. For the few weeks leading up to that wedding I recall trying and trying to come up with a way to do it but sadly I couldn’t. However a couple of years ago I dusted of my engineering hat, tools, and used a bit of that magic ingenuity I discovered as a child and…Ta da! The Dancing Harp was born!
Elenas Floating Harp is a fun, lovely combination of music meets new dance partner. Moving it along the floor for a different spin (I literally do spin it) on the traditional look of sitting and playing the harp. In the video I play 3 different types of music to showcase how things might work & sound for a cocktail area or main ballroom dance floor. The others could represent how a wedding feel might look and sound like. Plus I naturally get to work in a bit of fashion as well with some gown changes. Really the possibilities are endless and as always I encourage you to get a hold me via the old fashioned way a phone call. I’d love to hear all about your ideas for your event or wedding and I’m told I’m quite a talker myself so…Magic!
